In March 2003, RCPL organized a workshop on Lebanon with the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT). The objective of the workshop was to introduce the DFAIT to the Lebanese-Canadian community, and listen to their concerns about the Canadian foreign policy
in Lebanon.
The Lebanese-Canadian community was represented by 9 people from 6 non-profit organizations
based in Montreal. The DFAIT team included officials that cover trade, politics, human rights and aid for Lebanon.
Both sides were very satisfied from the workshop. The DFAIT team stated that based on increased sensibility to the abuse of human rights in Lebanon, they will pay more attention
to Lebanon going forward.
