Unstable state of security in Lebanon |
RCPL is concerned by the recent events in Lebanon which emphasize the need to demilitarize the entire country. The recent events include:
| - |
bomb on a Dutch missionary on May 7 in Tripoli, killing 1 person |
| - |
attempted assassination of the American Ambassador in April in Tripoli (North Lebanon) |
| - |
bomb on McDonald's restaurant in March in Beirut |
| - |
bomb on the British Cultural Center in March in Tripoli (North Lebanon) |
| - |
assassination of an American missionary nurse last November in Sidon (South Lebanon) |
These events remind us of the fragile state of security in Lebanon, and the importance for the Lebanese government to disarm all non-governmental groups and movements in Lebanon, including the Palestinian refugee camps, Osbat Al Ansar and Hizbullah.
