RCPL requests that the Canadian
government pass a resolution similar to the one passed by the European Parliament on January 24, 2003. The resolution calls on the Lebanese authorities to:
|

|
| - |
determine the fate of some 17,000 missing
Lebanese in a serious,
non-biased investigation
|
| - |
arrange for
the withdrawal of the Syrian army from Lebanon, conforming to UNSC
resolution 520 and Taef agreement
|
|
|
|
|
The resolution also expressed concerns over the closure of the MTV station and the harassment of Lebanese journalists who criticize the regime.
The Canadian government is asked to adopt a similar resolution and to propose such a resolution to the United Nations.
